All network users are expected to act in a responsible manner in accordance with the Hometown School District’s policy, Pennsylvania and Federal laws. The district reserves the right to add additional restrictions to the district's policy at any time. Specifically, the following uses are prohibited: -Facilitating illegal activity. -Commercial or for-profit purposes. -Non-work or non-school related work. -Product advertisement or political lobbying. -Cyber bulling. -Unauthorized or illegal installation, distribution, reproduction, or use of copyrighted materials. -Downloading or using unauthorized games, programs, files, or other electronic media. -Destruction, modification, abuse, or unauthorized access to network hardware, software, and files. -Impersonation of another user. -Making terroristic threats. -Posting anonymous messages.
- Viewing pornographic or obscence materials.
- Using inappropriate lanaguage while on the network.

Consequences for Inappropriate Use
The use of the district network is a privilege, not a right, and misuse will result in the restriction or cancellation of the account. The principal, teacher, superintendent, or technology specialist may limit, suspend, or revoke access to the network at any time. Misuse may also lead to disciplinary (including suspension or termination) and/or legal action for both students and employees. -The district will attempt to handle all offenses on an individual basis. - The district will provide an individual with assistance in gaining the self-discipline necessary to use an electronic network
appropriately. -An individual search may be conducted if there is reasonable suspicion that a user has violated the law or district’s internet use policy.
- Computer and network use is subject to Pennsylvania and Federal laws and regulations.
- The district will cooperate fully with local, state, or federal officials in any investigation relating to any illegal activities occurring
through the district system
